Work of the Charity Hospital in June

In June, our hospital turned 5 years old! Thank you for being with us all this time! You bring medicines, go on trips with doctors, organize charity marathons and concerts in our support, write, take pictures, and help us in word and deed. The Hospital is you! Let us tell you how this month went.

Mobile Clinic

In June, we went out 22 times to 32 locations where homeless people could get food and shelter and provided medical and social assistance to 122 patients 165 times. We performed 42 wound dressings. There were no ambulance calls.

The mobile clinic works according to the summer schedule. The current schedule is available on our website: https://charityhospital.ru/for_patients/. You can print it out and carry it with you, and when you meet someone in need, give them a flyer with the MC schedule.

Accessible communication

Thanks to a joint project between Charity Hospital and the Kinonia Club, our patients were on the phone for 108 minutes in June.

Medical assistance in shelters

We visited the Malta Shelter 7 times and saw 15 patients 24 times. Performed 14 wound dressings. Called the ambulance crew twice.

Glasses

We gave out 17 pairs of glasses for vision correction and 16 cases for glasses across all projects. In June, 3 of our patients visited an optometrist. We thank our partners – optical shops Vision, Ocheche, and Rainbow, for their help in making and collecting glasses for homeless patients.

Testing

56 people were tested for HIV infection, viral hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and we performed blood glucose measurements for 55 patients.

Vaccination

Available at all Mobile Clinic parking lots free of charge and without any documentation, thanks to cooperation with the district health departments. During the month, we vaccinated 15 people against diphtheria and tetanus, 12 people against leptospirosis, and gave 4 vaccines against rabies.

Medical and social support

Charity Hospital’s staff and volunteers helped patients get help:

– 2 people got dental help

– 1 person was placed in a tuberculosis hospital

– 1 person was placed in a psychiatric hospital

– 7 people got remote consultations from a medical specialist

– 2 people restored their Russian Federation passports (jointly with Kinonia)

– 9 people got their hair cut

Outreach

During outreach sessions, we come to those who need help – oftentimes, this is the only way to help desperate people. In June, we went out 3 times and saw 8 patients. We performed three wound dressings.

Requests to Telegram bot

ISeeHomelessBot is a bot for collecting information from St. Petersburg residents about homeless people on the streets. At the request of indifferent people, the Charity Hospital team goes to the person in distress to understand the problem and provide assistance on the spot. In June, we received two requests, both of which are in the works.

If you see a homeless person on the streets of St. Petersburg and want to help them, send a request to the bot: https://t.me/ISeeHomelessBot

Humanitarian aid

In June, we gave out: 4 lifepacks, 1 cell phone and 1 SIM card, 8 walking canes, 2 pregnancy tests, 9 intimate hygiene products, 1 umbrella, 10 raincoats, and 1 orthopedic product.

SepaRight Waste Collection

In June, the SepaRight Collection campaign collected medications for our patients at 17 locations.
